Welcome back in 2025

 Welcome Back Everyone

After getting started at the beginning of 2024, I ran out of time to host a blog.  I'm hoping that this year will be much better and my time will be more manageable.

Yesterday my shearer husband brought me a large number of Romney Fleeces. They are just gorgeous. I'm currently washing a Shetland fleece and then have a few orders, so it will be a couple of weeks at least until I get to washing these. If anyone is interested in a whole fleece or a pound of washed Romney, just let me know.

This one is already spoken for.

Some Updates

Last year I posted about working on my teal Romney hoodie. That is now finished and I'm very happy with it. It's very comfortable casual sweater to wear with my jeans.

What I'm Working On

As some of you will know, I am in the last year of my Master Spinner program from Olds College, AB.  For my final project, I settled on comparing the wool from twelve different breeds of sheep from the Vancouver Island Fibreshed, for their suitability for socks.  I have just sent the first three off to the knitter and am looking forward to her feedback. So far I have spun Romney, Shropshire and Southdown. Unfortunately, I didn't take pictures of them before handing them over. This one is the Shropshire while still on the wheel.  Next up is Border Cheviot.

In the Wash

This week I'm working on a Shetland fleece.

On the Needles

I've got several projects on the go currently.  I'm knitting a Peter Rabbit for a friend's new baby. The pattern is from Knitting Peter Rabbit by Claire Garland.

I've just started a kit that I ordered a few years back from Shetland Wool Week.  It's the Da Crofter's Kep by Wilma Macolmson.  I've knit a swatch and just need to block it.

Enjoy your fibres!
